Vicious Cycle Software's Vicious Engine 2 will support Sony's next-generation portable entertainment console (NGP).

The technology has been utilised to design games for a variety of genres, ranging from action/adventure titles to small downloadable Playstation Portable releases, such as Young Thor and Freekscape: Escape From Hell.

Eric Peterson, president and chief executive officer of Vicious Cycle Software, said: "We expect NGP to provide the ultimate experience for portable gaming with its various unique and impressive features and Ve2 will provide game makers the most efficient way to develop the very best games for the system."

The company's vast experience in the game design industry was also cited as a key reason for Vicious Cycle 2 to succeed for game developers.

Sony's NGP was originally showcased to audiences on January 27th, where the machine's capabilities were outlined to the press, including its five-inch organic light emitting diode.
