Wii leak as U dates revealed

Wii U features a hand-held controller Tuesday, April 03, 2012 3:44 PM

Release dates for Nintendo's forthcoming Wii U console have been leaked online, after an email was obtained from a Japanese retailer.

Wii Daily claims that it obtained an email from Tokyo game store Media Land stating that the console will launch on November 18th 2012 in North America, followed by Japan a week later for Japan.

No date was given for the U's European release.

These dates tie in with those given in an official statement released by Nintendo last December.

In it, the company said: "Production and development efforts remain on track for the Wii U launch, which will take place between the start of the 2012 E3 Expo in June, and the end of 2012."

The U features an innovative touch-screen controller, motion controls and full 1080p HD graphics.

Nintendo will be hoping for a big sales boost when the U does launch after it posted net losses of 48.35 billion yen (£400 million) for the nine months to December 2011.
