The video game version of the hugely successful TV series Game of Thrones is to be released on June 8th to tie in with the second season finale on Sky Atlantic on the 3rd, Koch Media has announced.
Koch's fantasy RPG will be available on the Xbox 360, Windows PC and PlayStation 3 and will allow players to explore locations and meet characters they've fallen in love with while watching the TV show.
Game of Thrones, which is based on George R R Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy books, has taken the TV world by storm since its first airing last year.
Since then, it has secured awards including Outstanding Drama Series at the Emmy Awards and Best Drama Television Series at the Golden Globes, as well as providing Best Supporting Actor wins for Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister.
Quite whether Koch's RPG will be winning any accolades in the world of gaming is another matter, as these sorts of crossovers often don't work out so well.
Koch says gamers will get to play as Mors, Sworn Brother of the Night's Watch, and Alester, a Red Priest in search of redemption, with locations from Westeros providing the backdrops for battle such as The Wall and King's Landing.
Other characters appearing in the game include Queen Cersei, Varys the Spider and Jeor Mormont, Lord Commander of the Night's Watch.
During the game, players will have full control of their character's development, can find, buy or loot new equipment and weapons and gain experience to improve their abilities.
However, it's not all just muscle power that's required as Koch says political skills will also be needed to solve critical situations.
All the visuals are powered by the Unreal Engine 3 so the game should look spectacular at the very least.
