EA's yearly game updates provide a substantial source of revenue for the uber-publisher
Electronic Arts today announced that sales of PlayStation 3 software led the way in terms of net revenue growth during the company's fourth quarter fiscal period.

EA's PS3 software net revenues were a healthy $152 million (£75 million), a year-on-year increase of 192 per cent during the quarter ended March 31st.

This was revealed in the company's earnings report, while it also indicated Xbox 360 sales had reached $128 million (£65 million), a gain of 56 per cent. Wii software sales grew 108 per cent during the same period.

Surprisingly, PS2 revenues were the main source of profit for the company, software-wise, with net revenues of $166 million (£133 million) showing a 42 per cent rise, even though, on a non-GAAP basis, sales did decline.

PSP software sales accounted for $69 million (£34 million), Nintendo DS sales for $36 million (£18 million) and mobile sales for $41 million (£20 million).

The top titles, over all platforms, were Rock Band, Fifa 08, Madden NFL 08, Need for Speed: ProStreet, The Simpsons Game, Tiger Woods PGA Golf 08, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, MySims, NBA Live 08 and Army of Two.
