Wii Fit flexes its muscles at the top of the pile

Friday, 29 Aug 2008 11:56
Wii Fii exercises total control over the charts this week
Mario Kart Wii has gracefully accepted defeated and vacated top spot this week for its console-mate, Wii Fit. As was expected, the yoga-'em-up has step-exercised its way to the top of the charts.

Mario Kart Wii slipped into second place, with Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games taking bronze. The usual suspects are all still around, just rearranging themselves a little.

The interesting thing about this and next week's charts will be the entry of Grand Theft Auto IV, which is predicted to break all sorts of records. Of course, Wii Fit was also predicted to do similar things, so the battle for top spot should be an intriguing one for chart followers.

Halo 3 made a surprising re-entry into the lower reaches, rising to 17th place from 25th. The Simpsons Game also reappeared, taking 16th position. Time Crisis 4 and Dark Sector slumped six places each, holding onto their top 20 status by narrowest of margins (being in 19th and 20th places respectively).

Notable titles to have plunged into the abyss were Viking: Battle for Asgard, Army of Two and Tiger Woods: PGA Tour 08.

Incidentally, regular readers will be pleased to see that Cooking Mama 2 is still in the top 20.
