New features for Audiosurf
Wednesday, 07 May 2008 10:12
Audiosurf has proved a big hit with Steam users and casual gamers
Audiosurf, the popular casual game that uses a player's own mp3 collection to create high-speed race courses, has received an update.
The FM Update is available for free through Steam and has been put together by the game's creator, Dylan Fitterer.
Some of the features include last.fm audiscrobbling, the ability to use the game as a music visualiser and scoreboard comments.
"This update introduces a mod interface for developers," Valve, Steam's creators, stated. "The interface was made available during its beta phase and several Audiosurf extensions are already available.
"These include Shuffle Play, an MSN Messenger status writer, and a context menu that can launch Audiosurf directly into a song by right-clicking it in Windows Explorer."
Audiosurf has been a big success, garnering rave reviews from a number of media outlets. PC Gamer awarded it 85 per cent, stating there were "glorious moments when the entire game seems created specifically for the song you're playing".
