Tokyo Game Show mini-roundup

The new Castlevania game is a beat-'em-up, which might offend traditionalists
The Tokyo Game Show has been throwing up quite a few rumours and stories since it kicked off and we've got the juiciest of them right here.

First up, Tekken 6 has been confirmed for the 360, probably much to the chagrin of PlayStation 3 fans who have been waiting for it since 2007.

Nintendo has announced that Wii Music is due to come out in Europe on November 14th, bringing its 'family-oriented' vision of music rhythm games to millions of homes.

Microsoft has made a number of announcements, a lot of which have been about how many consoles they are shifting all over the world.

The company has also said it is the best console for Japanese developers to base their games on, but we'll have to see whether they get taken up on this.

Sega has been 'bigging up' Infinite Space, described by Edge Online as "harking back to great PC space adventures of the 80s and 90s".

It has also been promoting Yakuza 3 and its revival of a number of 'classic' Sega titles, such as Shining Force Feather and Phantasy Star Zero.

Konami has been talking about Silent Hill Homecoming, Castlevania Judgement and Winning Eleven 2009, which has been described in worrying terms by Edge Online, with "muddy gameplay" and "a PS2 game transplanted to the PS3" not exactly inspiring confidence.

Gamasutra has reported that Yoichi Wada, president of Square Enix, has said the Japanese games industry has "lost its position" as the foremost producer of videogames in the world, something he believes needs to be addressed.

The Sixth Axis has posted a rumour that the PlayStation 3 will be receiving another firmware update next week, between the 13th and the 19th of October.

The site has also speculated that there will be a PSP update arriving during the same time frame.

Sony announced a new variation of the PlayStation 3, the specs of which include an 80 gig hard drive and a Dualshock 3 controller.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Little Big Planet bundles are also set to go on sale at the same time.
