PlayStation 3
The rumoured PS3 price cut might finally become a reality.
There's been a rumour that the PlayStation 3 will be receiving a price-cut for many months, with August's GamesCom in Cologne being the event many expect Sony to announce the cut (on 18th August specifically).
However, rumours are not entirably reliable (naturally) and so when we can see the price cut right before our eyes (even despite
rumoured French retailer confirmations), it's a warming sight.
On Spanish online retailer
Alternate, it's shown that the 80GB PlayStaiton 3 and a game is now priced at ?299, down from ?399. The retailer might have jumped the gun a little, but surely this is the price-cut's first concrete confirmation. This would match a $299 price in the US and possible £199-£249 in the UK. Then again it could be a limited time promotion...
Sony has previously stated that they will cut the PS3's price cut
"when the time is right" and after drastic
manufacturing cost reductions and
industry pressure, the right time must be now.
[UPDATE] -
An Italian retailer has now cut the 80 PS3 model to ?249.
