Nintendo is reportedly to begin selling the Wii for £150 from October
A source has linked the Nintendo Wii to an impressive price reduction which could see the pearly white offering hit as low as £125 in the UK.
It looks like Nintendo is about to bring its A-game to the market in the face of a drop in sales of the its flagship machine in recent months, with one leak pointing to a price drop in the US for the Wii's motion-controlled goodness.
A list of advanced retail prices have been forwarded to Kotaku which show that in the first week of October, there will be a price drop for the Wii to a paltry $199 (£125), making it the cheapest next-gen console available on the market aside from the austere and memory-light Xbox 360 Arcade.
It would be no surprise if the announcement were true as it would likely be seen as a response to Microsoft and Sony's fine chopping skills, which have seen the Xbox 360 Elite and PS3 Slim drop to just £199 and £249 respectively.
Nintendo will also have a plinth to brag about its latest initiative to promote the console too, should it want to, given its participation at the Kyoto Cross Media Experience 2009, which is held between September 26th and October 4th.
And with New Super Mario Bros and Wii Fit Plus about to hit the shelves in the UK in the coming months, it could be that Shigsy wants to attack, all guns blazing, with his Ninty cohorts. With Mazza in tow, there'll be plenty to sing about for the fanboys, who presumably still use those three unforgivable phrases.
