Dead Rising and Lost Planet sequels multiplatform in 2009

Dead Rising sequel on its way
Capcom lift the veils from the sequels to Dead Rising and Lost Planet in the year of multiplatform.

Capcom know what they're doing this generation. First they confirm a stella early 2009 line-up with Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV, and then they reveal a solid line-up for later in the year.

In the latest Famitsu magazine, Capcom confirms the existence of Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 2. Both are coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and possibly PCs in 2009.

Lost Planet already hit the PlayStation 3 after the Xbox 360 release, but Dead Rising never crossed the bridge. In what Capcom calls 'the year of multiplatform,' the publisher will bring all their titles to both platforms.

They'll still honour Microsoft's console with exclusive content, in much the same way as they honoured the console by premièring the demo of Resident Evil 5 on XBL.

[UPDATE] - In conversation with another Capcom rep, CVG reports that talk of a Dead Rising sequel was simply lost in translation:

"Dead Rising was a huge success for us and is obviously the kind of game we'd like to continue to make.

"However, at the moment we have made no official announcement regarding a sequel. As the source is Famitsu, I can only suggest that it was a mistranslation."
