Ghostbusters: The Video Game
Following the confusion over Sony's Ghostbusters publishing deal, Atari's CEO Jim Wilson has confirmed that the game will be released for all formats in North America on June 16th.
Today
it was revealed that Sony would be publishing Ghostbusters: The Video Game, with talks of timed PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 exclusivity shortly after.

Sony press release followed, but only from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, which confirmed the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 exclusivity, with a newly announced PSP version to arrive in the autumn.
The lack of a Sony Computer Entertainment America press release is telling, since Atari's CEO and president Jim Wilson has told GamesIndustry.biz that Ghostbusters: The Video Game will release on all formats (Xbox 360, PC, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2) in the US on June 16th, as originally planned.
"The Sony Computer Entertainment partnership is exclusive to Europe, Atari is going to be publishing on all platforms in the US on June 16," clarified Wilson.
"We assessed the situation of the Ghostbusters franchise in Europe and saw that a united partnership with Sony was the best approach to maximise the long-term value of the franchise. We have an opportunity here to have first-party support behind such a significant franchise and the opportunity to then go back and publish the other SKUs later on."
As far as the other platforms in PAL regions, Wilson commented that their release would not depend on the success of the PlayStation versions and that an announcement would be made soon; it is expected that they will release later this year.
"We're always looking for opportunities to maximise our franchises, so if they arrive and we think it's the best opportunity to maximise long-term value, then yes, we'll consider it. At this point, were not having any of those discussions, but we do consider them," he concluded.
[UPDATE] - Atari's official press release reiterates that the game will be multiplatform in America, but PlayStation exclusive in PAL regions. A PSP version will be released after all other platforms this autumn.
"The title will launch on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Windows PC, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Wii and Nintendo DS in North America on June 16th 2009 and will be published by Atari," Atari's press release reads.
"In an exclusive deal for Europe and the PAL regions, the PlayStation 3 system and PlayStation 2 system versions will launch on June 19th 2009 published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe."
