Prince of Persia
Jordan Mechner has filed a new Prince of Persia trademark.
Mechner, creator of the original 1989 Prince of Persia, has
filed a trademark for Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands for use in games.
Mechner collaborated as game designer and writer on the 2003 game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which is now being adapted into a film directed by Mike Newell and
starring Jake Gyllenhaal.
Although Mechner was only listed in name on following Prince of Persia games, due to his work on The Sands of Time film, he did file the trademark for the latest PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Prince of Persia.
This means that this trademark could indeed be the sequel to the latest Ubisoft game. Then again, a connection to the first game's sands of time seems unlikely. Could the game be tied to the film's release in 2010?
Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands was filed on September 29th.
