More LucasArts adventure games if you buy Monkey Island

The Secret of Monkey Island
You'll be seeing more LucasArts point-and-click games if you buy The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition.

Many were excited by the announcement of The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition for the Xbox 360 and PC. It'll be a passionate re-imagining of the original game with HD graphics, a re-mastered score and full voice-over.

However, if you want more from LucasArt's point-and-click adventure game catalogue, all you'll have to do is buy the Special Edition.

"If this sells, there's no one at this company who doesn't want to do these games," LucasArts Community Manager Brooks Brown tells WAtoday.

"It's a matter of showing that there's interest and this market is alive and get people as excited as possible about Monkey Island Special Edition to show that these things can make it."

The Special Edition will join a new Monkey Island game from Sam & Max developers Telltale.

"LucasArts is really proud to be bringing it back after a 10 year hiatus It's been 20 years since the first game, we're really excited to be coming back," says Brown.

"As you can imagine, the re-imagining is essentially the original game remastered with all new hand-drawn HD graphics, and also it's no longer MIDI tracks, we've remastered those with brand new instruments recorded in our studio."

Surprisingly you'll actually be able to compare their modern 1080p handiwork with the visuals of the original 1990-game, as Brown explains:

"A lot of people see this and say, 'yeah, I remember this, it was this pretty.' Well, this entire game is actually built upon the original directly, so we have this cool little thing. Just hit 'Back' at any time and you've got the original game. And you can jump back and forth, back and forth, as much as you like. So you can see exactly how true we were to the composition of the original game. Even the title cards. It's been just a blast, as you can tell."

So make sure to buy the Special Edition and hopefully you'll be getting many more from LucasArts. Enjoy the behind-the-scenes video below.
