The PS3 is doing even worse than the Xbox 360 in Japan, much to Sony's displeasure
A few years ago none would have predicted this would ever have happened, but for the fifth week in a row, Japanese sales of the PlayStation 3 have been below the Xbox 360.
Microsoft has been pulling out all the stops to get itself a foothold in the lucrative Japanese marketplace and, although it has singularly failed to dent Nintendo, it has seemingly overtaken Sony's PS3.
According to Famitsu, the 360 sold 6,690 units last week, while the PS3 only managed 5,899.
Amusingly, even the PlayStation 2 sold more than both of them, with 7,527 units shifted.
The DS was top of the console pile with 33,998 sold last week, with the Wii coming in in second place (21,506) and the PSP finishing third (19,873).
