Shiny man blasts E3

Tuesday, 22 Jul 2008 08:56
Dave Perry doesn't like the new E3, preferring the 'old days' to the brave new world
Shiny Entertainment founder, Dave Perry, has added his voice to the chorus of boos, whistles and taunts that are ringing out about this year's E3 event.

"I've got to agree with the comment by John [Riccitiello] about E3," Perry told TechRadar. "If there aren't dramatic changes to the format and staff, I'm never going again."

Perry added: "The concept is broken, it's expensive, messages are diluted, consumers are ignored, the ticket policies are stupid, and if the entire industry doesn't participate, it's not real anyway."

The chief executive of Electronic Arts, John Riccitiello, has, as Perry indicates, also criticised E3, calling for it to return to the way things used to be, or risk losing the biggest companies.

E3 organiser, Mike Gallagher, said the event would grow next year and that he and his organisation were listening to the comments made by the leading industry players.
