Supreme Commander coming to 360

"See Scully? I told you UFOs existed!"
Gas Powered Games, co-developer Hellbent Games, Aspyr Media and 505 Games have announced a collaborative effort to bring acclaimed RTS Supreme Commander to the Xbox 360.

Due for release later in the year, 505 Games will be handling European distribution of the title's first outing on next-gen consoles. The PC version of the game garnered numerous industry accolades, picking up the E3 2006 official game critics award for best strategy game.

The brainchild of renowned gaming guru Chris Taylor, the title is considered the spiritual successor to Total Annihilation, his first major hit. Players can command one of three separate nations: the Aeon Illuminate, the Cybran Nation or the United Earth Federation.

After selecting a faction, players go down the usual RTS route - gathering resources, building units and buildings and researching new technology. A unique strategic zoom system allows for a map-wide view of the battlefield, giving greater tactical control over the events unfolding below.

For those with dual monitor setups, the PC version of the game can display different information on each screen (for example, it could show the main view on the left-hand screen, with the zoomed-out strategic map on the other).

Whether the Xbox 360 version will allow this sort of thing with multiple TVs remains to be seen.
