Take Two 2009 Line-Up: Where's L.A. Noire?

Thursday, 18 Dec 2008 12:13
L.A. Noire
Take Two Interactive has announced the company's 2008 revenue and next year's releases.

Sales were dramatically up for Take Two, with Grand Theft Auto IV leading the march, but despite the success, losses also rose to $15 million.

It's therefore lucky that the publisher has attracted developer Rockstar back to the company; the Grand Theft Auto giants have resigned with the company.

2008 sales led on the PlayStation 3 at 35%. The Xbox 360 wasn't far behind at 28% and the Wii trailed at 17%. Despite the company targeting adult gamers, they've admitted that they can no longer ignore the Nintendo Wii's install base;

"Even though we think M-rated content is much more appropriate for the PS3 or 360, we have to look at the Wii as a viable platform across all our labels," said CEO Ben Feder. "We have to, because we can't ignore the installed base. You just can't."

This tactic might just save their asses in the coming years.

And now to Take Two's 2009 releases. BioShock 2 still doesn't have any confirmed platforms, but with the company's PlayStation 3 performance they might pass on making the title a timed Xbox.

There's still no sign of the once PS3 exclusive L.A. Noire. It's hiding somewhere, but we might have to wait one more year. And then there's that secret Rockstar game...maybe Take Two don't even know about that one.

Ben Feder commented;

"We're excited about our 2009 pipeline, which will include the introduction of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars on the Nintendo DS, episodic content for Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360 and downloadable content for Midnight Club: Los Angeles, as well as new offerings from such powerful franchises as BioShock, Mafia and the 2K Sports roster."
