Rumour: Wii to recieve price cut this week

Monday, 21 Sep 2009 11:09
Nintendo Wii
News of a Wii price cut begins to approach confirmation.

Last week we brought the news of a number retail listings for a new Nintendo Wii pricing structure.

The console would be reduced from its current $249 to $199, presumably to battle the latest price cuts on the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, which both hold $299 prices in the US.

The drop to $199 will bring Nintendo's console in line with Microsoft's Xbox 360 Arcade model, but would also presumably drop from its current UK price of £199 to around £130, which weighs in at £30 cheaper than Microsoft's Arcade in the UK.

Nintendodojo.com is now reporting that a US cut to $199 is on its way, effective this Sunday September 27th in the US and presumably worldwide. The supposed confirmation came by way of a conference call, which Nintendojo was reportedly in attendance.
