World completely unshocked by Harry Potter announcement

Wednesday, 23 Apr 2008 08:51
Exciting stuff happens all the time in the world of Harry Potter...
In a move not set to rock the gaming world in any way, Electronic Arts has revealed plans to produce a new Harry Potter game to tie in with the new film.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince follows the bespectacled wizard and his gang of rowdies as they embark on a relatively perilous quest to uncover the identity of some bloke called the Half-Blood Prince, who apparently wrote some book on potions or something.

Duels to be fought, conspiracies to be unravelled, love triangles (in a Harry Potter game? This is sounding more interesting by the second) to be, er, completed (?) and a Quidditch cup to be won - all of these things will be found in the new game.

"We believe that the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince video game represents a milestone in the movie tie-in genre," said Harvey Elliott, head of developer Bright Light.

"Building on the technological advancements of previous games in the series and with a particular focus on the unique control system of Nintendo's Wii, the team here is working closely with the film-makers to create an immersive interactive experience that captures the story, the action, the excitement and, above all, the fun of the film."

EA are planning to spread the wizardly goodness over a number of platforms, including Mac, PC, Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii and DS.
