Development ended on 360/PS3 Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones
LucasArts has ended production on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 Indiana Jones game.

The rumours were true: the next-generation Indy game is no more.

Although The Staff of Kings announcement was suspiciously missing the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in its available platforms, we thought that perhaps they would come a little later on, but no such luck.

Only the Wii, DS, PlayStation 2 and PSP will see a new Indiana Jones game. A LucasArts spokesperson has announced that 360 and PS3 development has been strategically ended:

"We want to bring consumers an Indy experience in 2009 following the successful launch of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008.

"The next-gen skus would not be ready for the 2009 window so we made a strategic business decision to end development on PS3 and Xbox 360."

The "next-gen" Indy was boasted to use LucasArt's NaturalMotion Euphoria engine; it combined animation and physics to create lifelike characters and interactions. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed used the engine, but the technology was perhaps not as revolutionary as we'd hoped it would have been.

LucasArts are keen to let fans know that they shouldn't fret, since the other platforms will get plenty of great features in the new Indy game. You can read up on all of the known details on The Staff of Kings after this link, and you can find the trailer here.
