First Look - Dracula: Origin

Something for the ladies and the fellas in this screenshot
Dracula: Origin (released on June 6th) plays in a very similar way to Frogwares’ Holmes series of games – same interface, note-taking and so on – but returns to the third person perspective of Silver Earring.

The game will follow the traditional Dracula story only loosely, taking players (in control of Van Helsing) to various locations (such as Egypt) not featured in Bram Stoker’s opus. As is usual with Frogwares’ adventures, the locations have some splendid backdrops, while maintaining a good frame rate on slower systems.

If you aren’t a fan of the Holmes games though, you will find little to change your mind here, being that they are so similar in style. If you are, you’ll most likely be back in your element with Origin.

The developers are apparently targeting a female audience with this title, seeing Dracula himself as an iconic figure amongst female players. So, if you do happen to be a lady, Frogwares have you in mind with this title.

Male players aren’t left out – with the usual 19th century heaving bosoms on offer, one presumes.

All in all, Dracula: Origin is planning to take a big bite (sorry) out of the adventure gaming market – it just depends on whether you are a fan of Frogwares’ style or not.
