Sherlock Holmes game renamed for UK/US audiences

Holmes was the greatest detective in history, but he still had a blind spot with ladders
Ascaron Entertainment and Focus Home Interactive have announced the launch of Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis for the PC.

Already released in Europe under the moniker Sherlock Holmes versus Arsene Lupin, the game comes from long-time developers of digital Sherlockiana, Frogwares.

The plot involves the a series of daring burglaries, heists and criminal enterprises pulled off by the legendary master-thief Arsene Lupin, with players taking control of Holmes (and faithful Watson, of course) in order to track down the rapscallion and bring him to justice. The interface will be familiar to those who played Frogwares' previous title The Awakened - which saw Holmes move into the first-person genre for the first time (well, the first time in a game that wasn't woeful).

"We continue to experience tremendous success with our Sherlock Holmes adventure series," said Alan Wild, global product marketing manager at Ascaron Entertainment. "Sherlock Holmes: Nemesis promises to be another outstanding adventure game with the world-famous detective leading the way."

For those unfamiliar with Arsene Lupin, he was created by Maurice LeBlanc to be, essentially, a French version of Holmes, with the same bewildering knack for disguise and extraordinary expertise in his chosen field. Whereas Holmes stayed, mostly, on the right side of the law, Lupin was a master thief. Lovable rogue would perhaps be the best description.
