The police chases of yesteryear are back, with the NfS series returning to its roots for inspiration
Black Box, an Electronic Arts studio, has revealed a host of new details about upcoming title, Need for Speed: Undercover.
Going back to the halcyon days of NfS: Most Wanted, players will be dodging the cops and chasing their rivals.
This time around, there is a plot involving going undercover (hence the title) to break an international crime syndicate.
Other than the return of police chases, there is also the new 'Heroic Driving Engine' - specifically designed to make the high intensity chases as exciting as possible.
"Need for Speed: Undercover puts you at the centre of a big-budget Hollywood movie with all of the drama, action and dazzling chase scenes, right on your gaming console," said executive producer, Bill Harrison.
"The unique Heroic Driving Engine will give you ultimate control over the hottest cars and push you to use every ounce of skill to outrun the law and take down criminal adversaries."
The game will feature more than 80 miles-worth of roads to carve up, including a large highway system for high speed chases.
All the usual stuff is there - licensed cars such as the Audi R8, BMW M6 and Lexus IS-F, for example - plus the return of the police, who will, presumably, be using aggressive measures to take out the player's car.
The game will be in European stores on November 21st (18th for North America).
