Rise of the Argonauts (RotA) will be featuring new work by the film and TV composer, Tyler Bates, Codemasters revealed today.

Liquid Entertainment's mythology-'em-up will be scored by Bates, who has worked on, among other things, the film '300' and the dark comedy series, 'Californication'.

RotA will be the first game project Bates has ever worked on, with a sample of the score available at the RotA official site.

"The mythical nature of Rise of the Argonauts encouraged me to go beyond TV and movies and compose the score for my first video game," Bates enthused.

Movie buffs may be interested to know that some of his upcoming cinematic work will be featured in films such as 'The Watchmen' and 'The Day the Earth Stood Still'.

"Rise of the Argonauts is an epic game with some of the biggest Greek heroes like Jason, Hercules and Achilles, which inspired me to compose dramatic, sweeping music to create the proper setting for this exciting adventure," Bates added.

"In Rise of the Argonauts, every design choice emphasises immersion," said Ed Del Castillo, president of Liquid Entertainment.

"We want players to actually feel like they’re heroes in ancient Greece – not just playing a game. Tyler’s experience with composing for film and TV gave him a fresh perspective, and his music for the game set the epic tone we were hoping for."

Rise of the Argonauts is due for release in the autumn of 2008 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
