Independent developer, The Behemoth, will today release Castle Crashers for Xbox Live Arcade.

The game features a "unique mix of beat-'em-up action along with mild RPG elements," with hand-drawn art from Dan Paladin.

While hacking and slashing your way through the 2D landscape, you can also make use of "adorable" Animal Orbs, who help against enemies and assist in finding buried items.

For those looking for a hardcore challenge, 'Insane' mode allows those who have completed the regular game to go back for more, and there is also a four player deathmatch Arena mode too.

The game will be released for 1,200 Microsoft points, boasting 20 levels, more than 40 weapons and over 20 unlockable characters.

The game also comes with a free dashboard theme and two gamerpics.
