Codemasters releases Dark Legend fact sheet

Friday, 22 Aug 2008 10:22
Overlord: Dark Legend will have a story penned by Rhianna Pratchett
The Wii exclusive, Overlord: Dark Legend, has been given the fact sheet treatment by publishers Codemasters.

The game will essentially be a prequel, set in a time before the original game, as players take control of a younger Overlord and his Minions.

These goblin-esque creatures form the mainstay of the game, being used to "crush rock giants, gnomes, halflings, elves, dwarves, peasants and more."

The object of the game is to conquer new realms and build up your run-down castle into an impressive fortress.

The Wii Remote will be used to send the Minions into battle, as well as to launch magic spells at the enemy.

One other way the Wii Remote can be used to control the Minions is by grabbing one from the crowd and shaking the controller in order to 'throttle' the dangling demon.

This "stirs up the volatile life force within them" and turns any throttled Minion into a rocket, basically.

The Minions themselves can be of different types too - brown ones are fighters, red means fire throwing, green are sneaky assassins and the blue Minions are healers.

Finally, the storyline for the game is being penned by former PC Zone scribe and award-winning games author, Rhianna Pratchett, who also wrote the story for the original.
