EA announces another Sims 2 expansion

Move your Sim into an apartment where it can be tortured by the expansion's soundtrack
Electronic Arts has today announced another expansion pack for the Sims 2, but at least this one isn't a themed furniture 'collection'.

Anyway, the Apartment Life pack for the Sims 2 will feature a 'rocking' soundtrack (with not one band this reporter actually likes on it) featuring the likes of Good Charlotte and Katy Perry.

In Apartment Life, a player's Sim is able to move out of the suburbs and into a block of flats - in the US mould, rather than the likes of Nelson Mandela House (from Only Fools and Horses).

Various apartments are available, including a converted loft, 'swinging' studio pad or 'posh' penthouse with butler included.

For the first time, apparently, players can control multiple households, so that the main Sim's neighbours can get involved.

The Sims 2 Apartment Life has been given a release date of August 22nd in Europe and Asia-Pacific regions, with the North American version following on the 26th.

The soundtrack includes:

  • "Everything" - performed by A Cursive Memory
  • "Getting Better" - performed by Bob Schneider
  • "Radio" - performed by Castaneda
  • "Fancy Footwork" - performed by Chromeo
  • "Battle Royale" - performed by Does It Offend You, Yeah?
  • "Sweet About Me" - performed by Gabriella Cilmi
  • "Club Soda" - performed by Ghostland Observatory
  • "Where Would We Be Now" - performed by Good Charlotte
  • "Violet Stars Happy Hunting!" - performed by Janelle Monae
  • "Crazy" - performed by Jem
  • "Mad Pursuit" - performed by Junkie XL feat. Electrocute
  • "Hot N Cold" - performed by Katy Perry
  • "Ghosts" - performed by Ladytron
  • "Mozdulj Mar (Mondulo Mar)" - performed by Lola
  • "Ona Odna (She's Alone)" - performed by Ranetki Girls
  • "This Is Not A Test" - performed by Shock of Pleasure
  • "Brainless" - performed by Sunny Day Sets Fire
  • "Good Day" - performed by Tally Hall
  • "Come My Sunshine" - performed by The Comas
  • "Divebomb" - performed by The Whip
  • "Not A Love Song" - performed by Uh Huh Her
  • "On & On" - performed by Vanilla Sky
  • "Can't Believe My Eyes" - performed by Wainwright
