Fable 2 co-op impossible without Live

Wednesday, 01 Oct 2008 14:59
You won't be able to play with each other out of the box, I'm afraid
Peter Molyneux, 'outspoken' head of Lionhead Studios, has spoken to Videogamer about Fable II today.

The comments of most interest to those interested in the ambitious RPG title will be about the drop-in drop-out co-operative mode.

Denying that he was speaking as a "company man", he said the utilisation of Xbox Live was what set the machine apart, for him, from the PlayStation 3.

He said the PS3 was "quite so mature" with its multiplayer infrastructure, although he did say he would like to have Lionhead's games on all platforms.

Videogamer.com has also revealed that Fable II won't actually be shipping with online co-op play - this will be coming in a later patch, which will be a little annoying for some players.

Does this indicate the game could potentially not be quite as 'ready' as we are being led to believe? Probably not, but it is certainly curious that such a widely anticipated feature won't be included on release.
