Free Realms release date revealed

Thursday, 12 Feb 2009 13:22
Free Realms April '09
It's not too long until the free-to-play fantasy MMO is released.

SOE's free-to-play (as confirmed in our previous story) fantasy MMO for 10-14 year olds, Free Realms, will see its commercial PC release in early April. And when we say early April, we're confident that April 1st is the date the client will become available.

As we revealed in our previous story, the game will be accessible through an online website that'll stream it to your computer. Easy as pie.

As for the PlayStation Network release, Free Realms will come out sometime in Q3 2009. The reason for the delay? SOE is readying a bunch of exclusive PS3 content for the game, as well as finalising DualShock controls and possible cross-platform play.

A Mac release is currently in discussion, but won't launch alongside the PC client. A PC Beta will also launch in a few weeks time.

Stay tuned for more Free Realms news in the coming days, including an exclusive hands-on preview.
