1942: Joint Strike available now

Traditional top-down blasting with a twist
Capcom has announced that 1942: Joint Strike is now available for download on the PlayStation Network and on Xbox Live Arcade.

The 80s action-shooter leans heavily on the 194X series of classic vertical arcade blasters from the days when large sunglasses and semi-nude male beach volleyball were all the rage.

The art, sound and gameplay of the new title is heavily influenced by the older games, resembling the top-down, vertical action of yore, with a number of stylistic differences.

Like the old school games, wave after wave of enemies stand in the way of the player, before huge bosses require destruction before each stage can be completed.

When playing with other players, 'Joint Strike attacks' can be created by combining the power of two aircraft into one barrage.

The title features two player online co-op play and a score created by Norihiko Hibino, a composer noted for his work on the Metal Gear series.
