Battlefield: Bad Company demo out in June

Monday, 12 May 2008 10:04
Will the Gold Rush mode be better than the Enemy Territory map?
Electronic Arts and DICE are getting a demo for Battlefield: Bad Company ready for June 5th, it was revealed today. It will be released on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live on said date.

The demo will give players their first taste of the single player mode, while the multiplayer element will give you access to the Gold Rush mode and the Oasis map.

If players manage to reach rank four in the multiplayer section of the demo, an exclusive in-game weapon can be unlocked. The full game will have a selection locked weapons, some of which can be obtained via in-game accomplishments and others are simply promotional items.

Early access to the demo will be provided if players pre-order the full game through selected retailers, although you'll have to be in the US of A to take advantage of this. However, "participating EU retailers to be added" is the message from the official site, so fingers crossed.

The game will put you, the player, in charge of B Company, a group of soldiers who prefer the lure of gold to that of fighting valiantly for freedom. The single player promises to be more developed than in previous Battlefield titles.

DICE has also played up the destructible environments in the game, but as with many titles promising to feature this, it is definitely a "wait and see if it makes any difference" kind of thing.

The full version will be spewed into the public domain on June 27th.
