Epic says Gears of War 2 won't come to PC

Thursday, 02 Oct 2008 12:11
Don't be at all surprised to see an announcement in six months confirming a PC release of Gears of War 2
In an eerily similar statement to that made around the time of Gears of War 1 (which did end up coming out on PC after all) Epic has said that the sequel will not be released on that format.

For those that might be disappointed, the original was also said to be 360 exclusive - but still came out on PC. Don't drench your handkerchiefs just yet then...

Anyway, Ripten.com has posted a statement by Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games, explaining the 'decision'.

He said that the main reason for it apparently not being scheduled for PC is that Epic has decided to focus on making GoW2 the "best possible Xbox 360 game it could be".

Dual development would have made this impossible, Rein said. However, CliffyB, the infamous lead designer at Epic, said the companies main concern was piracy.

Of course, you could visit any major torrent site and find just as many pirated copies of console games to download, but anyway...
