Jak & Daxter announced for PSP and PS2

Thursday, 02 Apr 2009 10:22
Jak's Back
Jak and Daxter return in a PSP and PlayStation 2 adventure.

In fact Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier is the duo's first PSP outing and will see the pair take part in non-stop action and adventure as they try to save their planet from destruction.

Sadly the game isn't being developed by original creators Naughty Dog (their busy with Uncharted 2) but it's been left in the reliable hands of High Impact studios - the folks behind Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank.

Now, we did give you a hint that Jak was coming to the PSP, because we've known for some time. The Lost Frontier subtitle has been around for a while, but many thought it was for a PlayStation 3 title - we knew that had to wait. We wrote this in January:

"There's no way Jak IV will be announced for the PlayStation 3 [...] If anything, there might be a Jak and Daxter release on the PSP, in a similar vein to Resistance Retribution, which was not developed by the series' PlayStation 3 developer Insomniac, but by Bend Studios."

But enough of that and lets divulge some more about J&D PSP. The game will start from the end of Jak 3 and the two will team up with their friend Kiera on her quest to become a Sage and save the world from the threat of "dark eco."

You'll first start on foot, upgrading lots of Jak's great powers, and soon you'll be taking flight in five different aircrafts to blast sky pirates.

IGN describes the game as "easily one of the best looking titles" on the PSP and although it's strictly a single-player game, The Lost Frontier will last around 10 to 12 hours on your first play through.

Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier will be released for the PSP and PlayStation 2 this autumn.
