Midway's Career Criminal sleeping with the fishes

Tuesday, 12 Aug 2008 12:37
Career Criminal was being designed, apparently, as a GTA beater, but we'll never know how it would have turned out
A "large, ambitious, open-world project" in development at Midway's Austin studio in Texas has been canned by the company.

The studio itself has also had the rug pulled out from under it, with most of the team laid off.

Kotaku has managed to obtain a copy of the e-mail sent out by Matt Booty, the interim chief executive and president of Midway.

The open-world project in question was called Career Criminal, but it appears it will now be sleeping with the fishes.

Kotaku says that the "resource needs, feature set, schedule and financial profile for the Career Criminal project were not converging towards a reasonable chance of success."

Follow the link above if you want to read the full e-mail sent out by Mr Booty to the employees in question.
