Resi 5 confirmed for Wii
Wednesday, 23 Jul 2008 12:15
Sega says Resident Evil 5 will be out on the Wii, but Capcom and Nintendo haven't said this is true ... yet
Resident Evil 5 will be coming out on the Wii, according to the president of Sega US, Simon Jeffrey, who made an accidental "slip of the tongue" during an interview.
This is rather strange, as Sega have flip all to do with the game. Neither Nintendo or Capcom have said a word on the matter, but, in an interview discussing the former, Jeffrey made the 'slip'.
"The Wii's selling incredible amounts of hardware, but Nintendo knows it needs to expand the demographic. It needs to connect with the core gaming demographic," Jeffrey said, discussing Nintendo's gaming strategy.
"Resident Evil 5 - when that happens on the Wii that's going to help."
A spokesperson for Capcom responded to a query from CVG, saying: "Did you hear about the Sonic MMO, though, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS and Megadrive? And they're bringing back the Dreamcast! Because it was brilliant."
So, Capcom has, rather sarcastically, poured water on the fire. Jeffrey himself has said the Kotaku interview 'error' was a "simple slip of the tongue".
