Team Fortress 2 update goes live

Wednesday, 30 Apr 2008 15:11
Play Team Fortress 2 for free this weekend (May 2nd - May 4th)
Players eagerly awaiting the big update for Valve's Team Fortress 2 will be happy to learn it has gone live. The update is free and introduces a new map (Gold Rush).

The map also features a new gameplay mode and unlockable weapons for the Medic class. These are obtained by successfully completing achievements for the class.

The unlockable weapons system will be rolled out for other classes in the near future, in case you aren't too found of bandages, hypodermic syringes and wearing squeaky plastic shoes.

"Since Valve released Team Fortress Classic nine years ago this month as a free add-on for Half-Life owners, Valve has continuously looked for new ways to support the players of its online games," raved Gabe Newell, head honcho and co-founder of Valve.

"Following in that tradition, today owners of all PC versions of Team Fortress 2 will automatically receive a free update containing new gameplay, weapons, and achievements by connecting to Steam, a platform built for gamers and creators of online games."

For those who've yet to experience the cartoon-based fun, TF2 will be available to play for free this weekend (May 2nd to May 4th, for those without a calendar).
