La Grande Guerre is shaping up to be very similar to Europa Universalis or Hearts of Iron - which is no bad thing, of course
Ageod has decided to rebrand its upcoming World War I game, giving it the new subtitle La Grande Guerre 14-18.
It has also released four new screenshots, which can be seen below.
The game will focus on "historical grand strategy" and will be turn-based.
Designed by Philippe Thibaut, who has worked on Europa Universalis, American Civil War and Great Invasions, the game will allow players to take control of the full conflict, leading either France, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, Imperial Germany, the Austro-Hungarian Empire or the Ottomans.
Diplomacy, research and domestic policy will all come into play alongside the military element of the game.
Four players will be able to play online or through a LAN, with the grand campaign, four more specific scenarios or a number of small-scale skirmishes.
Historical characters and events will also come into play, with 'wild cards' like Lenin and Mata Hari having the ability to turn the tide in a different direction during play.
The game will be out on November 11th, 2008 – the 90th anniversary of the end of World War I.
