World of Starcraft, anyone?

Wednesday, 02 Jul 2008 13:09
How well will StarCraft transfer to the MMO stage, if indeed it features in Blizzard's plans
Blizzard has confirmed it is indeed working on one more unannounced game and, yes, that game is another MMO.

Naturally then, rumours have set the internet alight since Blizzard bigwig, Rob Pardo, spoke briefly about the title after being asked about vacancy postings on the Blizzard site.

The ads called for staff to work on a 'next-gen MMO", which has started internet tongues a-wagging.

"It's obviously [not Diablo III], because it's not an MMO," he told Online Welten. "So we have another development team. So yeah, there's still an unknown project in development from us."

The rumours have been split into three main strands since Mr Pardo said this.

Firstly, there are those who are convinced a Diablo MMO is on the way. Secondly, there are those who believe a new franchise is being developed.

Thirdly, and perhaps most convincingly, there are those who think the new game will be World of Starcraft.

BlizzCon 2008 could well be the place for an announcement to be made, so fans will have to mark October 10th down on their calendars.
