Activision: We'd like to charge more for games

Activision's CEO doesn't think game prices are high enough.

With Modern Warfare 2 holding a recommended retail price of £55, the game is around £15-20 more expensive than other games this generation. Many questioned Activision's decision, with some threatening to boycott the game.

However, the reality of studios and publishers struggling to make significant profits on video games current pricing, the inevitability of Modern Warfare 2's massive sales (the first Modern Warfare has reached 14 million sold) somewhat justified the higher price.

Now the publisher's CEO, Bobby Kotick, has added that he'd like to charge even more. Analyst Tony Gikas asked the publisher's president Michael Griffith on Modern Warfare 2's pricing, to which he responded:

"[There's] very strong retailer acceptance and support for all parts of our plan, including ... our price points."

But Kotick added: "And Tony, you know if it was left to me, I would raise the prices even further."

Well, thanks Bobby.

Activision Blizzard recently announced that they had surpassed one-billion in revenue in their last financial results.

Kotick also previously threatened to stop supporting Sony unless they dropped the price of the PS3.
