Liliegrin: Wii is a virus

Tuesday, 02 Mar 2010 17:31
Liliegrin thinks these people are idiots, probably
One man is on a crusade to undermine the Wii's appeal by slating it to the world's media. Fredrik Liliegrin, the ex-boss of DICE, clearly doesn't have much love for the console.

The Swedish developer behind the creation of the Battlefield series of games told GamingUnion: "People come home ... they play Wii for a bit, feel it's really cool, blah blah blah, they go out and buy one.

"Ask people how often they play the Wii, that are not the core game consumer that buys one because they have an Xbox 360 and a Wii or a PlayStation 3 and a Wii."

Liliegrin added that people who only own the Wii "just don't use it" despite it once being cool, as they are not gamers and instead just put it away.

Putting his point very bluntly, he added that the Wii Fit phenomenon helped a lot of people get in touch with a "nice cutie voice telling [them] that they're fat and need to go work out".

DICE is also credited with the creation of Mirror's Edge, as well as upcoming title Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
