Mario Kart revs up for another week at the top

Tuesday, 22 Apr 2008 13:21
Mario Kart Wii is looking unstoppable at the top
As expected, Mario Kart Wii crosses the finish line in first position for the second consecutive week in the UK's ChartTrack games chart. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games remains hot on its heels in second, with Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 leading a bevy of football-related games in the top 20.

A couple new entries have also muscled their way in this week. EA's licenced Euro 2008 game entered in seventh place, but as not one of the home nations made it to the tournament its days are surely numbered. Time Crisis 4 also slipped in at number 13 with little fanfare.

Dark Sector slipped five places to fourteenth, while Viking: Battle for Asgard continue to court the wrath of the Gods, slipping once more to 17th. Army of Two slumped to 19th, surely on its way out next week.

Mario games made up two more of the positions (16th and 15th) with New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart DS. One could suggest the Wii is surviving purely on the exploits of the diminutive plumber...

Before you ask, Cooking Mama 2 is still in the top 20.
