Rumour: Bethesda to buy Valve

Valve
Bethesda could be on a purchasing path to acquire Valve.
It was a big surprise when Bethesda Softwork's parent company,
Zenimax, purchased iD Software in June of this year. The Doom and Quake creators had previously held independent status, similar to that of Half Life developers Valve.
However, Valve could also see a similar deal coming their way.
"Unconfirmed industry scuttlebutt suggests that Zenimax - the parent company of Bethesda, which
made headlines back in June when it acquired legendary PC studio id Software - is still on the acquisition trail, and has been making eyes at Half-Life creators Valve across the bar,"
Eurogamer writes.
There's questions over what Bethesda would do with Valve's PC digital download service, Steam:
"Whether Bethesda, a hybrid developer/publisher itself, would want to keep Steam on board, or spin it out to a third party, is unclear - as are many other aspects of a potential deal which would once again raise the awkward question of who, exactly, owns which parts of the Half-Life and Counter-Strike IPs."
As soon as we find out more, we'll let you know.
