Power Gig comes with real guitar

Wednesday, 10 Mar 2010 13:00
The start of the Game Developers Conference resulted in one of the better announcements for rhythm game fans: Power Gig: Rise of the SixString is to provide a new approach to the genre.

That's because you may not look as much of a gamer - or perhaps idiot, in the eyes of many non-believers - as plastic simulation guitars are being done away with, instead using a fully-functional six-string guitar that can also be played in real life.

Developer and publisher Seven45 Studios, a sister company of First Act, may have vested interests given that its partner organisation is a major musical-instrument maker that creates entry-level guitars, basses, and other instruments for retailers across the US.

Many testers have been impressed with the initial offering but some have noted their concerns over the genre dying out at present, given its saturation of the market through two already-established franchises in Rock Band and Guitar Hero.
