Secret of Monkey Island
With Tales of Monkey Island launching today for the PC and Wii, LucasArts gives The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition its release date.

Telltale Games' first chapter of their Tales of Monkey Island game launches today on PC and WiiWare, but many wondered when LucasArts would publish The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition. It was today announced that the re-imagined and re-mastered version of the classic 1990 game will launch on July 15th for PCs and the Xbox LIVE Arcade.

LucasArts also announced today that they would be reviving their classic franchises by making many of them available on Valve's Steam service. The first batch of games, which release on July 8th, include:

  • Armed and Dangerous
  • Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
  • Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure
  • LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventure
  • LOOM
  • Star Wars Battlefront II
  • Star Wars Republic Commando
  • Star Wars Starfighter
  • The Dig
  • Thrillville: Off the Rails

  • "This effort is going to make it possible to introduce a whole new generation of gamers to LucasArts’ classic games," said Darrell Rodriguez, president of LucasArts.

"It also gives more people a chance to play our games by making them available long after they’ve disappeared from store shelves. We hope our fans are as excited as we are about our plans and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next. This is just the beginning."

And remember, the more LucasArts games you buy the bigger chance you'll get to see remakes of their classic games, including...Day of the Tentacle.
