Two Worlds II likely for PS3

Two Worlds II
Two Worlds comes back for a second attempt at open-world role-playing with the ridiculous but predictable title Two Worlds II.

Two Worlds II, or Two Worlds Two as we shall call it, is coming to the Xbox 360, PC (and perhaps more) this winter. The franchise's first entry sports a somewhat respectable meta-critic of 65 per cent on PC, though its Xbox 360 counterpart scores only a 50 per cent average due to technical differences.

Hopefully the game's sequel is able to answer its critics. Two Worlds Two could also be the first PlayStation 3 entrance for the series. The game's press release from developer Reality Pump states that it will come to the "PC, Mac and Next-Gen consoles."

Though it's surprising that "next-gen" is still used for hardware that's been out for a number of years, the emphasis should be made on the plurality of the word "consoles."

We're presuming that Two Worlds Two is what was once called Two Worlds: The Temptation, which was original envisaged as an add-on to the first game and then revealed to be a sequel. This game has been rumoured to release for the PS3 as far back as early-2008.

The team hopes to answer critics with an overhauled AI system, an active combat system and a brand new engine that they believes sets "new technical benchmarks in the RPG genre" with Two Worlds Two.

Alexandra Constandache, the Executive Producer of Two Worlds Two, commented:

"We intentionally opted for a completely independent game with radical new technology. This was the only way to ensure that we harness the enormous potential and experience gained from the making of the first Two Worlds project - and make full use of the further technical development of internal Reality Pump tools that has been on-going since the first Two Worlds was developed.

"This new release window gives us enough time to systematically implement both our own requirements and the feedback of the Two World fans, enabling us to create a breathtaking RPG experience."

[UPDATE] - The game's publisher, Zuxxez (SouthPeak will be publishing the game in English speaking countries), has responded to our enquiries and have regrettably told Gamezine that they can't currently announce the exact platforms, which is sure to increase speculation.

"Unfortunately we can't tell you the exact platforms right now. We will publish the formats as soon as possible! Nevertheless, the release dates will all be the same," a Zuxxez representative told Gamezine.co.uk

Still, it's good to hear that the game will be getting a simultaneous release accross all platforms. No timed-exclusivity here.
