First Look: Necrovision

There aren't any diary entries to listen to in Necrovision, just full-on blasting
I'm going to put a question to you, dear readers: what do you really want from a first person shooter?
Do you want insane numbers of enemies, massive spurting and suspiciously phallic guns, mixed with explosions, a huge bodycount and ludicrously sized bosses to slaughter?
Or do you want a more sophisticated, deeper experience, a large 'open' world to explore and interact with, a meaningful storyline and emotion-inducing characters?
If you chose the latter, Necrovision isn't for you. If it is the former, then this game could well be firing a rocket of goodness right up your proverbial alley.
Necrovision is right in the Serious Sam school of FPS shootery. Take a handful of enemies, plonk them in a level then multiply their number by a factor of ten.
As you'd expect from the same team (effectively) who brought us the uber-old school blaster, Painkiller, Necrovision is a head-on dash into the blood-smeared wall of repetitive blasting.
We're not going to see anything really new here, just a lot of older concepts refined and honed. At least, that is what it looks like we'll get.
I won't bother going into the plot - it involves zombies, vampires, and an alternate 'history' of World War I - and just say that you'll definitely be wanting to check this out if you enjoyed tearing through Painkiller, Serious Sam or games of its ilk.
There will be 16-player online/LAN multiplayer, with six maps and three generic modes.
It'll be good fun, of that you can be sure. But is that enough nowadays? For me, yeah, it is.
