Lara Croft Returns This Week

She's Back Thursday, November 20, 2008 11:57 AM

Tomb Raider: Underworld is released to gamers around the world this week. Publisher Eidos hopes that Lara's bountiful charms will bring in the punters once again.

November has already seen an epic proportion of quality titles, arguably more impressive than last months. Of course, LittleBigPlanet was controversially delayed to November, making the month even stronger than it was before.

Gears of War 2, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Call of Duty: World at War, Wii Music and Mirror's Edge, already lead the way. Tom Clancy's End War and Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts are other honourable mentions.

Tomorrow Lara makes her true current-generation debut, bringing back the archaeological exploration, puzzle solving and combat we all found so attractive in her first 1996 outing.

Croft's journey to uncover proof of a Norse underworld and the mythical Hammer of Thor will see her embarking on a perilous journey to the Mediterranean, Thailand, Mexico, the Arctic Sea and more.

Sean Vesce, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics, had this to say about Tomb Raider: Underworld; "We continue to innovate on the brand that defined the action-adventure genre and we are excited to introduce fans and gamers to an immersive, believable world that they can explore and conquer."

In what could be described as Valve's birthday present to their very first game Half Life, which celebrated its 10th anniversary yesterday, they release the zombie infested world of Left 4 Dead for Xbox 360s and PCs around the world. The game redefines four player cooperative play with rushing zombies that've come straight out of 28 Days Later.

Oh, and don't forget, Square Enix's RPG hope releases for Microsoft's Xbox 360 today. The Last Remnant will make its way to the PlayStation 3 and PCs at a later date.

Find the rest of this week's releases below, and why not have a wander through the Gamezine Store for the latest video game deals.
