Spider-Man: Edge of Time has been confirmed for global release this autumn by developer Beenox.
The game has been produced in collaboration with publisher Activision and Marvel Entertainment and will see gamers take the roles of both Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099.
Working in tandem the two characters will have to alter the events of time in order to stop a disaster which has claimed the life of Peter Parker.
The game's story was written by Peter David, co-creator of the cartoon series Spider-Man 2099.
Players can also try the "cause and effect" mode where they can see in real-time the effects of their actions on each of the characters.
"The first game developed by Spider-Man Beenox, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, has been named one of the best games of Spider-Man's history from critics and fans," said Vicharin Vadakan , director, global brand management for Activision.
"We want to create an experience quite different in Spider-Man: Edge of Time, including working with Peter David on the story and creating this sense of urgency and intensity. In this game, time is against us and the fate of Spider-Man is in our hands," he added.
Further details and game shots will be presented to WonderCon 2011 in San Francisco this weekend.
