Scoring Guides
We here at gamezine.co.uk like to think we are fair and even-handed when it comes
to doling out scores in our reviews. However, as a number of other gaming media
outlets have effectively put the idea that 7/10 is the 'average' score, we have
decided to go against the grain and lower this back to 5/10.
Confused? Be so no longer with our handy cut-out-and-keep guide to what the scores
actually mean on gamezine.co.uk
0/10 - No redeeming qualities whatsoever. Realistically, no game will ever get this
score, except one based on Big Brother.
1/10 - Atrocious, lacking virtually any feature or qualities that make the game
worth recommending.
2/10 - Dreadful, but it may have one or two amusing elements (intentional or otherwise)
that make it worth checking out for comedy value
3/10 - Getting better, but still pretty dire. Lacking in substance and quality,
but it might be considered playable by those of an extremely forgiving disposition
4/10 - Below par, but playable by forgiving fans of the genre. May contain references
to 80s Action films
5/10 - Average. Neither good nor bad, just bland and relatively uninteresting. Won't
set the world alight, but if you can find it cheap, it could do for a couple of
hours.
6/10 - Getting better. Flaws prevent it from scaling the dizzying heights of gaming
stardom, but genre fans and even the odd casual player will get something from this.
7/10 - Good, but not great. Genre fans will lap it up and some casual players may
be inspired to investigate further.
8/10 - Very good, verging on excellent. Recommended to all players, but just lacking
that key ingredient to make it a classic. Thoroughly enjoyable and worth playing.
Good time will be had by all.
9/10 - Classic, one of the best games ever released. Everyone should experience
it.
10/10 - Nothing is perfect. Nothing will get this score. Unless it involves Terry
Funk.
